A closer view of the ship lap. Originally Mike was going to use this area as his transition to two layers of 1/4" planking. He now thinks he can lap another layer of 1/2" over this one and go another couple of feet with 1/2" ply. As this planking is thicker, he is going to screw it down permanently with bronze screws set in epoxy. The screws will be countersunk slightly and filled with epoxy before the 'glass goes on later. He thinks this will be much simpler than laminating two thinner layers down. I love it when builders come up with clever ways of doing things that I hadn't thought of . . . just as long as they run it by me first!
